Turkon Line, one of Türkiye’s leading container shipping companies, officially launched its India Service with an exclusive event held at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai. Co-hosted with its local partner Poseidon Shipping, a subsidiary of the esteemed Abrao Group, the event brought together over 300 distinguished guests, including key stakeholders from the logistics sector, port and customs authorities, media representatives, and officials from the Consulate General and Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Türkiye in Mumbai.

With this strategic expansion, Turkon Line aims to establish a strong logistics bridge between Türkiye, India, and beyond. Operating under the Türkiye–Red Sea–India (TRI) route, the new service provides a vital link between India’s growing market and Turkon Line’s robust network in America, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.

Speaking at the event, Ramazan Bizel, President of Turkon America, highlighted the company’s long-standing maritime experience and innovative approach with the following remarks:

“Our journey to the international stage began with the launch of our U.S. service line in 1997, making us the first private Turkish company to offer direct maritime transportation from Türkiye to the U.S. For 28 years, we have proudly maintained uninterrupted service, and today, we operate a weekly schedule with 7 vessels on this route.

With nearly three decades of experience in transatlantic shipping, we are proud to bring the same reliability, efficiency, and customer focus to the East—specifically, to India.

Today, we are not just launching a new shipping service, we are creating a faster and more efficient bridge between America and India. This new service line is designed to streamline logistics operations and provide added value to our customers’ supply chains.”

Launched in February 2025, the TRI service is currently operating with four vessels and is expected to expand to five vessels by June 2025. The route offers the fastest transit time between Türkiye and India via the Suez Canal and Red Sea, calling at Nhava Sheva and Mundra ports in India, and includes rail connections to strategic inland destinations in northern India.

The new service also supports Turkon Line’s sustainability vision. In 2025, the company will add two newly built, multi-fuel vessels with a capacity of 4,000 TEU to its fleet. These eco-friendly, high-tech vessels, built at the group’s own Sedef Shipyard, will boost the company’s total capacity by over 50%.

The launch of the India Service marks a significant milestone in Turkon Line’s eastward expansion strategy as the company continues its growth on a global scale.
