time February 02, 2024

The first block of the vessel, constructed by the group company Sedef Shipyard, took its place in the dry dock. The first block of the newly constructed ships, with the participation of Turkon Line Chairman Metin Kalkavan, Sedef Shipyard General Manager Erkan Mete, top executives, and shipyard employees, was lowered into the dry dock at a ceremony held at Sedef Shipyard.

This project, which will be the largest container ship built in Türkiye, is also defined as an Eco-ship, with the ability to consume less fuel and carry more cargo. Designed to operate with five fuel types (LNG - Liquid Natural Gas, MGO - Marine Gas Oil, HFO - Heavy Fuel Oil, VLSFO - Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil, ULSFO - Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel Oil) and environmentally friendly features, the capacity of Turkon Line will increase by 50% with these vessels.

Turkon Line CEO O. Alkın Kalkavan, commenting on the matter, said, "Türkiye's largest container vessel built by Sedef Shipyard will not only contribute to our company's capacity but will also be a significant milestone for the Turkish maritime sector. With the completion of this giant project, it will stand out not only with the size of the ship but also with its environmentally friendly technologies."
